Theresa dubhop mixtape is HERE!

Posted by Poniiboi - April 30th, 2012

After a lot of work, SJD is officially getting back "in the game" with "Theresa," which is out now on Bandcamp, Facebook and Soundcloud. This is like an introduction on Newgrounds, too. I mean, I've been here for a few months now, but this is really my introduction. So hi.

Here is the link to the entire mixtape on the NG dumping grounds.

So What Is Theresa?
Theresa is a real girl that I dated. We are still friends. She's one of the best people I have ever known and she made me think about many things that no other girl had. So although all of the songs are not ABOUT Theresa, they are all inspired by her. I also thought my first mixtape should be something different because everybody just wants to do hard, hard, hard. I wanted to prove that you can explore relationships and still be hardcore.

So yes, guys - you can still listen to this out loud and not be called a pansy by your friends.

What Dubhop Is
I call this mixtape "dubhop" because I feel like I mix dubstep and hip hop like no one else does on Theresa. I never liked electronic music snobs or hip hop snobs who say that something has to be this way/that way in order to fit in. Screw off. Two kinds of music exist: Good stuff and bad stuff. I rap over drops, I sing, I talk about subjects that people are afraid to mention and it sounds good.

The Producers
5 out of the 6 songs on Theresa are originally produced by Newgrounds dubsteppers. I do vocal arrangements over Aaron Musslewhite, Spaze, FurryNG and xSentinel productions. These guys are some of the best producers I've ever heard on or off NG. If you haven't checked them out, do so.

The Sites
The full dubhop album is on Facebook.
However, the Soundcloud SJD dubhop page will have added things, like Beavis and Butthead reviews of Theresa songs. Follow me there to get the extras.
Follow me on Twitter to get the latest info first. There *might* be videos in the works.

Of course, I will still be dropping songs on Newgrounds exclusively, entering rap battles, doing random collabs - just because I love it. But Theresa will be the songs that I am promoting to radio and Internet stations for the next month or so. If you really like a song, don't hesitate to hit up Dubstep101.com, dubstep24.com or dubstep.net and tell them you want them to feature it.

Thank you for your support. Thank you for opening your mind to new thoughts about music. Talk soon.

Remember, the whole thing is on the Facebook link. But here's the first cut if you're just too lazy to get off NG. http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/483590

Holy shit, the chorus to "Never Fall Away" sounds like Thom Yorke singing on a NIN track. :O Awesome production so far.

That was thanks to Spaze...he's on NG and SC...check him out.

FUTURE MUSIC! haha, wanna see NG dubstep take over :P Shit's too good keep it up SDJ and various producers of this album. Except that Aaron kid. Fuck him. I bet if you took him to a party, he'd start drinking way to much and get all hammered, and then he'd start hitting on the host's girlfriend or something and everybody would be pissed, except it wasn't a party. It was your aunt's funeral. and the host was your uncle. And everyone hates you now for bringing the smelly drunk guy into a funeral that hits on dead people. and then he'd try to play dubstep on the organ. and you're mother would cry. and you would have to get your food last and the next family reunion. so yeah... anyway get this mixtape!.

NG dubstep is the best, and I'm gonna keep doin my version of vocal dubstep (dubhop) til I die!

Good to see people doing their shit.

Keep on man.

Absolutely.

Dubhop is alive and well, my friends. We are going to keep trucking until SJD takes his rightful place alongside the masters of lyric and performance such as Vanilla Ice, MC Hammer and the almighty Puff Daddy.
